Course Number 35433

Introduction

This training is required for workers who need unescorted access to Lujan Experimental Areas Experimental Room-1 (ER-1) and Experimental Room-2 (ER-2). When beam is being delivered to Line D/WNR, ER-1 is a Limited Access Area. Employees and certain other workers receive full training to enter ER-1 unescorted and are authorized to escort untrained workers and visitors. Users receive the minimum amount of training required for unescorted access to ER-1 but may not escort others. Untrained workers must have approval from the line manager responsible for the Lujan Experimental Areas before being allowed access and they must be escorted at all times by someone who is currently authorized for unescorted access and escorting others.

Note: A Limited Access Area is an area which is normally either a Radiological Controlled Area or a Radiation Area. Certain abnormal or accident conditions could pose a potential for external radiation dose rates that are significantly higher than those indicated on the radiological postings.
